Using the Context Feature in Wizart PIM for Tailored Data Retrieval

Using the Context Feature in Wizart PIM for Tailored Data Retrieval

Overview:

The context feature in Wizart PIM is a powerful tool that allows you to tag products with specific labels, enabling flexible data filtering and management across the Wizart ecosystem. By setting the context property on your imported products, you can control which subsets of data are accessible through the Visualizer API or the Visualizer integration.

This feature is especially useful when working with large catalogs or when you need to manage multiple subsets of products for different purposes (e.g., product lines, regions, or special collections).

How the Context Property Works:

  • Multiple Values: Each product can have one or more context values, separated by commas. For example, if you want to tag a product for two different uses, you can assign it to both contexts like this: context1,context2.

  • Filtering: When products are marked with a context, you can use that context to filter the data you retrieve from the Visualizer API or the Visualizer integration. This means that only products tagged with the specified context(s) will be available for visualization.

  • Flexibility: A single product can belong to multiple contexts, allowing for flexible grouping. For example, the same product could be tagged for both a seasonal collection and a regional offering.

  • Applicability: The context property can be assigned to products that are:

    • Loaded by the customer: Products you’ve imported directly into the PIM.

    • Shared with you by others: Products that have been shared with you through Wizart’s data sharing features can also be assigned context values.

Example Use Cases:

  • Regional Product Availability: If you sell products in different regions and only want to display region-specific products, you can create contexts such as north_america, europe, and asia, tagging products accordingly.

  • Seasonal Collections: For seasonal promotions, you could create contexts like summer_collection, holiday_specials, or spring_sale. Products tagged with these contexts can then be accessed during specific promotional periods.

  • Customer-Specific Catalogs: For businesses offering customized catalogs for individual clients, the context feature allows you to create tailored product views using tags like client_A, client_B, etc.

How to Set the Context Property:

When importing products into Wizart PIM, you can fill the product_context field in your import file. The context field accepts multiple values separated by commas, allowing you to group your products as needed.

Example:

product_name, product_context Product A, holiday_specials,europe Product B, summer_collection,europe

In the above example:

  • Product A is tagged for both the holiday_specials and europe contexts.

  • Product B is tagged for summer_collection and europe.

These tags allow you to retrieve specific product subsets later, either through API calls or directly in the Visualizer.

Conclusion:

The context feature in Wizart PIM is a highly flexible and valuable tool that simplifies data management and visualization. By tagging products with context values, you can easily retrieve and display tailored sets of products in Wizart’s solutions. Whether you’re segmenting by region, collection, or customer, the context property ensures you always have the right data available at the right time.
